6. Weeks Prior to Moving Day
The more you complete now, the less you will have to do with Moving Day looming over your shoulder. Make a detailed inventory of everything in your house, something you can refer to and tick off during the packing, moving, and unpacking process.
Once contracts have been exchanged and you have a definite moving date, you should start informing some key organisations, such as you children’s schools, your GP surgery. These places may need to forward important paperwork to your new schools/doctor and it is useful to give them a head start.
Order your packing materials. These will include:
- strong cardboard boxes
- packing tape
- bubble wrap
- tissue paper
- marker pens

5. Weeks Prior to Moving Day
Book your removal company. Call Saunders of Harpenden on 01727.875.348, 01582.760.101 or 01923.839.991 and let us book you into our diary. Remember as well to book time off work if moving mid-week – ideally the day itself and the one immediately before and immediately after.
Start to declutter your home. Go from room to room deciding on items that you do not want to take to your new home. These can be gifted, resold, or taken to a local charity shop.
